Let’s Go and Say Hello is a picture book representing cultural diversity, embracing multicultural friendships while following the main character on her journey as she travels to seven different countries.

Learning to say hello in each native language while embracing cultural traditions in each country, the story represents diversity, inclusion and togetherness.

The inspiration behind the book came from my own daughter while learning her alphabet. Using each letter as an initial for a child in her nursery class, with London being such a multicultural society, the names originated from all over the world, from ‘A for Arash’ through to ‘V for Vlad.’

Witnessing the beauty that children have no pre-conceptions, to them difference is no different whether that be skin colour, religion, language differences or any other factors that are used to divide society.

As a diverse and inclusive picture book, Let’s Go and Say Hello has now been used in primary schools to prompt work and discussions surrounding diversity and inclusion, including exploring the multicultural backgrounds of the children in the class.

All children deserve representation, and learning each others backgrounds at an early age can pave the way for better understanding and a peaceful society in the future.

All children deserve representation!

Fear breeds hate, so the more open and understanding we are to embracing cultural differences benefits us all with a more inclusive and cohesive society. Opening our eyes can open our hearts to new people and new experiences.

Let’s Go and Say Hello is a picture book with a positive message that we are always better together – living together as one human race.
